Washington Manassas Airport Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New ARFF Station 41

MANASSAS, Va. — Washington Manassas Airport, located in the City of Manassas, proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station 41, marking another major milestone in the airport's growth and transition to commercial air service.

The new, two-story, 4,596-square-foot facility was designed to enhance the airport's emergency response capabilities while providing firefighters with the resources needed to effectively protect the airport, its tenants, and the traveling public.

Station 41 features a day room, dining room, full kitchen, training room, office space, and three apparatus bays designed to accommodate the airport's three ARFF vehicles. The facility is currently staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The facility supports the airport's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and emergency preparedness.

"This facility represents a significant investment in the future of Washington Manassas Airport," said Airport Director Juan Rivera. "As we continue preparing for commercial passenger service, ensuring our emergency responders have the facilities and equipment they need is essential. Station 41 strengthens our ability to respond quickly and effectively."

The station was designed by architect John Heltzel and constructed by Landivar and Associates. The $1.15 million project was funded primarily by the  Airport, with AVPorts contributing $600,000 toward the construction.

The completion of the station reflects the airport's ongoing investment in infrastructure that supports safety, operational excellence, and future growth. As the airport continues its transition toward commercial air service, projects like this ensure the airport is well-positioned to meet the needs of passengers, airlines, tenants, and the surrounding community.

The ribbon cutting ceremony brought together the City of Manassas Council, Airport Commission, airport staff, project partners, ARFF personnel and airport tenants to celebrate this important achievement and recognize the collaborative effort that made the project possible.

Mayor Michelle Davis and Washington Manassas Airport Chairman Rod Hall joined Rivera in thanking those who helped make the new hangar a reality and the progress toward attracting new visitors and businesses to the city. Hall also encouraged attendees to stay tuned for more exciting news to come.
