Our Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Department is dedicated to excellence in emergency preparedness and response. ARFF Services are provided by Pro-Tec Fire Services.
We provide FAA-required Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services at Manassas Airport.
Our team responds to aircraft emergencies, vehicle accidents, and other incidents on or near airport property. ARFF also assists the Airport in supervising fueling operations and compliance with FAA and NFPA standards.
We also participate in mutual-aid networks, allowing neighboring agencies to access specialized resources and foam application equipment during large emergencies.
ARFF is on the field daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
ARFF requires specialized training. Each firefighter undergoes instruction in aircraft construction, hazard recognition, firefighting techniques specific to aviation settings, and recurrent live burns.
Our personnel are also certified EMTs. They maintain continuing education and refresher training required for licensure.
Our ARFF department operates three different specialized trucks, with their capacities listed below:
ARFF 1: 3,000 gal. of water; 400 gal. of AFFF Foam; 450 lbs. of Halotron.
ARFF 2: 1,500 gal. of water; 200 gal. of AFFF Foam; 550 lbs. of Purple K.
ARFF 3: 300 gal. of water; 40 gal. of AFFF Foam.
